Description
You asked, and we listened! The newly improved Gas Powered Core Sampling Kit with the Gas Powered REDI Boss Hammer is ideal for obtaining soil core samples up to a depth of 8'.
There are multiple methods available for collecting core samples using this kit. Firstly, you have the option to use the 4' Gas Powered Slotted Sampler Tube independently. The slotted sampler tube is to be used without a plastic liner to retrieve a complete core sample up to 4'. Once you have obtained your sample, simply utilize the Cleanout Spoon to remove the core sample from the sampler.
Additionally, if you need to keep your sample contained inside a plastic liner, the Gas Powered Lower and Upper Extensions provide you with the flexibility to create either a 2' or 4' sampler. It is important to use the retainer coupler to securely hold your liner in place with the "lead sampler" when using these extensions. As you assemble the extensions, you will notice two parallel knurl marks on each of the four extensions. To create a 2' sampler, position the knurl marks at the top of the lower extension. For a 4' sampler, align the knurl marks on both the lower and upper extension to meet at the connection point in the middle of the sampler. By properly connecting your extensions using these knurl marks, you can ensure precise timing of your liner, minimizing any movement of the liner inside the sampler.
For instance, if you are aiming for a 4' sample but prefer it to be taken in 2' intervals, here's what you need to do. Drive the 2' lower extension to the desired depth with a 2' plastic liner. Then, remove the drive head adapter, retainer coupler, and liner. After removing the liner, insert a new 2' liner into the lower extension, connect the retainer coupler, additional 2' upper extension, and drive head adapter. Remember, when creating a 4' sampler, it is crucial that the two parallel knurl marks on each extension align at the connection point in the middle of your sampler with the retainer coupler and drive head adapter positioned at the top of the upper extension.
Once you have successfully driven your sampler to the desired depth, the Big Foot Removal Jack provides a convenient and ergonomic solution for retrieving your sampler. Simply attach the pull cap to your sampler, position the jack underneath the pull cap, and then operate the jack to remove your sampler. It is worth noting that if the soil at the surface is soft, it is beneficial to provide additional stability underneath the footplate of the jack to prevent it from sinking.
Note: Achievable depth is dependent on soil conditions.
