AMS PowerProbes feature direct push drilling technology and hollowstem augering capabilities.

They have gained widespread acceptance in many industries due to their versatility, relatively low cost, and ease of mobility. Mounted on pick-up trucks, trailers, or tracks, AMS PowerProbe direct push drill rigs are capable of retrieving soil, soil gas, and groundwater samples, as well as conducting a wide variety of environmental and geotechnical drilling activities.

AMS PowerProbes can access areas within buildings or off-road areas, and allow for collection of continuous core or discrete samples. The combination of direct push and hollowstem augering technologies allows for a great deal of versatility and assures completion of comprehensive, complex field work.

Compared to conventional drilling activities, direct push technolog is less labor intensive, offers quicker setup time, and generates significantly less cuttings. It is also quicker and easier to decontaminate and maintain direct push tooling.

AMS PowerProbes and direct push tooling are designed for environmental sampling and monitoring of soil, soil gas, and groundwater. They are also used for remediation investigation and various geotechnical activities. Some rigs also have hollowstem augering capabilities which provide more versatility in the field by allowing for penetration to deeper depths and the ability to conduct direct push activities telescopically through the hollowstem auger. The 9700 model PowerProbes include the track-mounted 9700-VTR and the truck-mounted 9700-D. They are powered by a liquid-cooled 80 hp diesel engine. They have a 175 ft-lb hydraulic hammer with the option to upgrade to the more powerful 550 ft-lb hammer. 9700s come standard with a 5,000 ft-lb 2-speed auger drive head, and an 80 inch probe stroke that allows the operator to use up to 5'' tooling.

The PowerProbe 9500 Series combines high-powered direct-push and auger capabilities with operator-friendly engineering. While maintaining some of the same standard features of our larger PowerProbes, the 9500 Series models utilize smaller carrier options that allow for access into tighter ares with less footprint. The PowerProbe 9300 Series was designed with versatility in mind. While retaining many of the same standard features of our larger PowerProbes, the 9300 Series PowerProbes utilize smaller carrier vehicles that can also be used for other functions. The small footprint of the 9100-VTR-D (diesel) makes it ideal for residential areas, tanks, farms, and gated areas. It can also be air-lifted into remote job locations and run by remote control. The 9100-SK uses a portable and maneuverable track system so the probe can be easily removed to allow the use of the accessories on the carrier vehicle such as the bucket, pallet forks, and backfill blade.
